Menstruation cycle is the most common agenda for any girly discussion and the pangs that tail the cycle amidst it Ria Chakraborty gives some tips:
Periods! The very word gives us an alarming menace. Periods are usually dreaded because they can be stressful, depressing, painful, and sometimes even embarrassing. When we are on our periods, we feel we are dying; we are annoyed more than when a pimple appears on our face and all we want is to crawl in our beds and cuddle with the side pillows. Our boyfriends, male friends and Dadas won’t understand the glitch we have to face every month. Periods – love it or hate it– it is that unwanted relative who will stay with us for a week and will return only to come back after a month. Since we all know that we have to welcome her every month, so let us have an idea about how we can enjoy these days.
Apart from drinking lots of water and having a healthy diet, here are 7 tips to enjoy the “bloodbath at your Y”:
- If you are a chocolate lover, then girl’s periods are the right time to be a chocolate-worm. Chocolates contain magnesium, which can alleviate cramps and increase energy. It also contains endorphins or “Happy Hormones” which can actually improve our mood and not to forget to take a cute selfie with your favourite chocolate. Caffeine, in moderation, can also boost our energy levels and spirits, making us more mentally alert, creative and productive at work.
- Cuddling with your teddy or pillow in the bed is what every one of us loves. Taking a quick nap, roughly about 10 to 20 minutes, in the middle of the day can help you get an immediate burst of energy after and wake up feeling refreshed and inspired.
- The first and second day of the period can be frustrating. You may have physical symptoms or feel emotionally vulnerable. Therefore, attention should be shifted from what is happening inside us. Watching comedy shows or “fevicol(ising)” to your favorite TV show can be a great idea.
- Periods greatly spoil our mood, so do something to pamper yourself to help alleviate symptoms. You may actually enjoy periods more if you use them as an excuse for pampering you may not do otherwise. If you ache all over, book a massage at your favorite salon and enjoy an hour of relaxation.
- Music is an all-time healing therapy. Make your periods a justification to relax with your earplugs being connected to your much-loved singer. Rocking and dance numbers can help you to have an awesome mind.
- Taking a walk outside in the evening can give us energy, as it’s a way to connect with nature and open the body up to a new, rich supply of oxygen and promote healthy breathing and rest.
- Don’t think about the quandary inside you. All you need is to have a proper plan about how many times you have to change your pad and quick access to your sanitary products and that’s it. When we don’t let others know what we are carrying inside our handbags then why this! While you don’t necessarily need to advertise that you’re on your period, you don’t need to feel embarrassed or paranoid either.
Remember, periods are nothing but the cleansing process of your platelets. So have a relaxed week with this monthly friend and be thankful to her as it ensures you that you are not pregnant! so Girls, Have a Happy Periods.
