6th May 2017, Kolkata – On Saturday at Kala Kunj of Kala Mandir ‘The Fifth Note’ has arranged a special teaching module from 11 am to impart specialized knowledge to the students of the music academy. The auditorium was full of students from different wings of TFN and maestros like Ustad Rashid Khan, Haimanti Shukla, Pandit Tanmoy Bose, Ratul Shankar to name the few. Suha Khan gave the conception of diction, proper pronunciation of Urdu and differences between western-style music and ghazals.

The Shakhri Begum Memorial Trust, a foundation dedicated to the art of imparting the best in Hindustani Classical Music is all set with the launch of its wing ‘The Fifth Note’ (TFN) on 13th November 2016. TFN is the first of its kind endeavor to harness and identify musical talent as also to sculpt performance-ready musicians for the industry.

Given the right ingredients, TFN hopes to raise the employability of budding musician manifolds by customized training and identification of individual merits. The idea to bring in different maestros from diverse genres bespeaks the idea of laying out opportunities for every form of music – be it instrument or vocals. TFN aims to create an informed resource house of talented musicians that will have a positive impact on the country’s music industry.
