Sakhi Sangh organizes the Women of Influence Award and Calendar Shoot aim to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in various fields. The calendar shoot serves a dual purpose by promoting female fashion designers and entrepreneurs through the showcased attire and jewelry. Notably, we are introducing a special category, “Heroic Housewife,” to honor the often overlooked contributions of homemakers. This event is our way of acknowledging their tireless efforts and resilience. The event is scheduled to be held on 26th April 2024 at Ozora Banquets, Kolkata.
Richa Sharma, renowned actor and model, winner of multiple awards and social worker, also associates with the project.
Sakhi Sangh is a self-help group established seven years ago with a mission working towards women empowerment and support education for underprivileged children, particularly girls, as well as to aid soldiers and their families. They provide emotional and practical support, organize events, and celebrate festivals with them. Additionally, this NGO offers a platform for women, including housewives, to showcase their talents and promote their endeavors.

The Inspiration:
“The inspiration for Sakhi Sangh came from a tragic incident in Khandwa, MP, where a young girl with alopecia committed suicide due to societal pressure. This incident compelled me to take action, leading to the establishment of Sakhi Sangh through online platforms like Facebook. Our first campaign focused on raising awareness about alopecia, which gained international recognition. Since then, Sakhi Sangh has continued to grow and expand its reach”, says Anamika Singh, the founder of the NGO.
On asking about the criteria of the Awardees, Anamika says,
“Certainly. Each year, we host an event called Queen India, aimed at supporting our weavers and handicraft artisans. Similarly, we organize a specific event called Heroic Housewives, which serves as a talent hunt for recognizing exceptional homemakers. We invite nominations for this category, and it’s heartening to note that a significant portion of our nominations come from this segment.
Our selection process hinges on nominations received from others. For instance, just moments ago, I received a nomination from a daughter-in-law on behalf of her mother-in-law. This act of one Sakhi supporting another speaks volumes about the solidarity within our community. While it may seem like a small gesture, its impact is profound. We believe in the power of women supporting each other.
Moreover, we have established a dedicated jury panel comprising individuals with reputable backgrounds in various fields. I rely on their expertise and judgment to assist in the selection of nominees. Their collective insights ensure that deserving individuals are recognized for their extraordinary contributions as Heroic Housewives.”
