Woman Times News Desk, Kolkata – Time and again few people have come forward to make the lives of the people at the correctional homes better but this time the efforts are with some difference. The Kolkata District Chess Association has initiated a program under which weekly chess classes will be held at all the correctional homes in Kolkata. The first opening has been done on 15th April 2019 at the Presidency Correctional Home where through a tournament 20 inmates were chosen for the weekly Chess class.
The first 3 winners have been given trophies and the rest of the participants were given participation medals. The dignitaries to grace the occasion were IPS Arun Kr Gupta, Director general Correctional Service; T.K. Sengupta, President Kolkata District Chess Association; Dr Saikat Moitra, Vice Chancellor of Makaut; Mreenal Chakraborty, Mental Toughness Trainer; Atin Sengupta, Secretary of Kolkata District Chess Association; Shyamal Dutta, Chief Coach; and Biswanath Banerjee, International Arbiter.
“We will take the game of Chess to the correctional homes so that they too extract their talents in chess and also they feel better,” says Atin Sengupta, Secretary of the Kolkata District Chess Association.
