Numbers every Bengaluru Woman should save tonight: Emergency helplines that can get you help
Numbers verified from government sources in July 2026. Helpline availability and response times may vary.
Your phone may be filled with screenshots you never revisit, delivery notifications and contacts you rarely use. But does it have the numbers you might need in an emergency?
Searching for the right Women Helpline Number after something has gone wrong can waste valuable time. Whether you are travelling home alone, facing violence, being followed or dealing with an online financial scam, saving the right helplines in advance can make it easier to seek help quickly.
Here are key emergency and support numbers every woman in Bengaluru should consider saving.
112: For Immediate Emergencies
If you are in immediate danger, call 112.
India’s Emergency Response Support System provides access to emergency services, including police, fire and medical assistance, through a single number. In Karnataka, the service is promoted as Namma 112 and should be the first option when urgent intervention is required.
Smartphone users can also use the 112 India app, which includes the SHOUT feature designed to assist women and children during emergencies.
100: Police Helpline Karnataka
100 remains listed as a police control-room number by the Bengaluru Urban district administration. However, emergency services are increasingly integrated through 112.
It is useful to save both numbers, but 112 should generally be your first call during an active emergency. If you cannot connect, try 100 or contact the nearest police station.
1091: Vanitha Sahayavani
Vanitha Sahayavani (1091) is a dedicated women’s police helpline in Bengaluru. It is intended to assist women facing harassment, abuse, threats and other safety concerns.
Unlike a general emergency line, the service focuses specifically on women’s safety and support. The Karnataka State Police lists Vanitha Sahayavani among its women-safety services.
181: Women in Distress and Domestic Violence
Call 181 for assistance related to domestic violence, abuse, abandonment or other situations of distress.
The national Women Helpline can connect women with appropriate services, including police assistance, counselling, legal support, medical care and referrals to Sakhi One Stop Centres.
Bengaluru’s One Stop Centres provide coordinated support that can include counselling, legal assistance, medical aid, police facilitation and temporary shelter.

1930: Cybercrime and Online Financial Fraud
If you have lost money to an online scam, call 1930 immediately.
The National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal identifies 1930 as the helpline for reporting financial cyber fraud. Keep transaction IDs, screenshots, bank messages, phone numbers and account details ready when reporting the incident.
After calling, file a formal complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. For cyberstalking, impersonation, intimate-image abuse or online threats involving immediate danger, call 112 as well.
14490: National Commission for Women Helpline
Women experiencing violence, harassment or discrimination can also contact the National Commission for Women (NCW) helpline at 14490.
The service can assist with complaints and connect women with relevant authorities or support services. It may be particularly useful for cases involving domestic violence, workplace sexual harassment, stalking, dowry-related abuse and other violations of women’s rights.
However, 14490 is not a replacement for emergency police assistance. If you face an immediate physical threat, call 112 first.
Save These Numbers Tonight
Saving an emergency number cannot prevent violence, and responsibility for harm always lies with the person who causes it. But having the right contact readily available can remove one barrier when every second matters.
Save these numbers to your phone, share them with someone you trust and check periodically that your emergency contacts remain accessible.
