Stress in Lockdown?

During these times of anxiety and stress, many of you may be worried about the bleak future ahead. Crashing markets are making it more severe. Well, worrying does not result in any solution. It only complicates the issue. Let us see what the different types of anxiety disorders are, that affect people.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder –

People affected by this disorder, always tend to worry. The reasons may be as varied from personal health issues, social interactions to routine activities. These people feel restless, are irritated most of the time, and
have sleep problems.

Panic Disorder –

These people suffer from recurrent panic attacks. Such people have these spurts all of a sudden which reach the peak, in no time and then subside. By then, a lot of damage is done in various areas of life. The signs of panic disorder are shaking, excessive heart rate, shortness of breath and a feeling of being out of
control.

Separation Anxiety Disorder –

This is felt by children. However, under today’s circumstances, even adults are not far away from it. These people have fears of being separated from loved ones. The signs include nightmares.

A number of diseases are directly related to psychological stress as various researches tell us. Most of you know about it, already. They are:

In 1992, when the riots occurred, we were all too young to understand the repercussions. So, now that we have de-coded a few reasons associated with stress, let us find out the cures. There are many things that you can do while sitting at home.

Top 7 Activities For Lockdown:

1. Stop Thinking:

First and foremost, stop thinking. It aggravates the problem at hand, without offering a constructive solution. Thoughts will only give worries which will not affect you but also your family and ones near you.

2. Clean the House:

Secondly, clean the whole house. Yes, you may feel like laughing at me. However, you have no idea, what treasures you will unearth today. Burn some sage and purify the atmosphere. Puja incense will also do the trick if you don’t have sage at hand.

3. Stay Engaged to help in reducing stress:

Stay engaged with whatever you found out during the house cleaning ritual. Think of ways to utilize them. You may also engage yourself in Spiritual activity, like meditation. There are many things, that you can start all over again. Reiki is one of them. Start your 21-day cleansing ritual, if you are already attuned. Practice Golden Ball meditation techniques. Heal others and heal the world. You can also gather people with the same expertise and perform the
White Light meditation. You can also do Yoga to stay fit and increase immunity.

4. Try your Hobbies to reduce stress:

Try learning new hobbies. It can be anything. Nurture plants, by taking up gardening. Now, there is no excuse to stay away from it. The more you nurture the plants, the more they give back. Feed birds and animals. There are no scraps, with all restaurants closed. Take out your canvas and start painting. Come on, you wanted to do that since such a long time. Now is the time.

5. Enrol for new learning:

If you are ambitious and the times seem dull, enrol for an online course. You can opt for language classes, digital marketing, cooking classes, or dance classes. A new dance form that is attracting a lot of eyeballs. It is called Flamenco. You can also go for Salsa and Tap dance. They are a rage today. Go for it, today.

7. Write a Book:

If you were thinking about writing a book, do it now. This time will not return. You can also start reading some of the old books or e-books to get the hang of it. And, for those who are working from home, don’t work on the bed. Select a table and chair to do it.

Most importantly, do engage the older adults in the house. They must be feeling the same way, distraught and worried.

Why Leave Out The Kids?

  • Create a routine for kids. There should be ample attention given to studies and other extra-curricular activities.
  • Make them socialize digitally. Nowadays, most are internet-savvy.
  • Teach them to learn from digital means; e-learning to be precise.
  • Teach them DIY stuff. That will also assist once they are back to school.
  • And last but not the least, bond with them. Time is precious.

With so much to do, there will never be a dull moment during this period. This is the time to DE-clutter the Mind – House – Body – Environment.
