THE PHASES

A story that evolves in phases, short but precise on a woman’s formation. Sketches by Uday Shankar Saha and lines by Poulami Chakraborty.

Woman of substance, the woman is strength and women are the creation. I heard these when I was inside the warm couch. I am born and I am free from the walls of my mother’s womb. With small steps, I am growing and each moment is a passing experience which will form my ‘self’. Now nothing is clear but with a vague glance, I can see the ‘beautiful’ world.

I am still trying…
…to fly but I failed. Maybe the spark within me is missing. My way of living is controlled, judged and corrected in accordance with others. I can feel the fading colours of the once beautiful world. I am a woman and sacrifice is the other part of me. But who am I?

As I try searching ‘Who am I?’ I realised I have transformed into a beautiful woman but no more a cult of sacrifice. I do not adhere to norms but believe in goodness. I do not conform to any religion but I believe in humanity. I am a complete human being and completeness is not my weakness.
