10 Kali Pujo to win the Woman Times Shyamasree Samman

10th November 2018, KolkataThe festival of lights and victory over the evil has always made the map of India glow during the Kali Pujo or Deepavali. This year Woman Times organised ‘Shyamasree Samman 2018’ to pass on the message ‘Kill the ignorance and bring enlightenment’. The objective of this initiative is to spread the idea to indulge in more acceptances and get victory over the evil taboos and superstitions.

The event was inaugurated by the councillor Shri Sandip Bakshi at the sky lantern festival, a joint initiative by Woman Times and Mahapuja Samity, at the Mahanayok Uttam Uddyan in Kolkata. The sky lantern was a symbol of the messenger carrying the message of knowledge and enlightenment amidst the dark sky.

The Shyamasree Samman Parikrama started 7th November 2018. 22 Pujo Pandals around Kolkata have been visited and top 10 Pujo is selected from them in different categories. The top 10 Awards winners are:

Best Social Doot: Milan Sangha, Kalakar Street

Best Environmental-friendly Pujo: Bapuji Sporting Club, Dumdum

Best Theme Pujo: Russa Road South First Lane Kali Pujo Committee, Tollygunge

Best Protima Shilpi: New Tarun Sangha, Surjo Sen Street

Best Traditional Pujo: Charer Pally Kali Pujo Samiti, Maniktala

Best Lights & Decorations: Barisha Shanti Sangha, Behala

Best Impactful Pujo: Members club, Lake Market

Best Innovative Pujo: Rammohan Roy Road Tarun Sangha, Rammohan Roy Road

Best Discipline and Maintenance: 68 Palli Sarbojonin Pujo Committee, Ballygunge Phari

The runners-up committees who have done well and missed the top 10 positions are – Ghola Recreation Club, Sonarpur Recreation Club, Haltu Sarbojonin Kali Pujo, Youth Friends Association, Young Athletic Club, 69th Pally, Sri Sri Sai Baba and Trinath Baba Pujo Committee, Baruipur, Lake Nagarik Sangha,  Behala Sanghati Sangha and Entally Kali Pujo Committee.
