Agaami, theatre group, presents a new wave to the 200th birth anniversary of Iswar Chandra Vidyasagar

Woman Times Desk,  Kolkata Recently, on the occasion of 200th birth anniversary of Pandit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, ‘Agaami’- a Budge Budge based theatre group presented their sixth stage show of ‘Dhrubatara’ – an one and a half hour long play on the life and times of the Versatile.

It was held as an invited play at the Third Theatre Festival organised by Kalyani Mukhosh. ‘Dhubatara’ has been directed by Soumyajit Adhikary , and is a collaboration of 30 other theatre practitioners’ performances.

Two other important components of the play are its beautifully suited music and costumes of the actors – which have been taken care of by Anup Ghoshal and Dipanjan Bakshi respectively.
The play highlights the teachings and philosophy of Vidyasagar’s life. Created with a commendable blend of different excerpts on the life of Ishwar, this latest performance of ‘Agaami’ also adds up a portrayal of the political violence done to his statue in his own state in recent times.
The overall ambience, script and presentation of the play have not only left the audience mesmerized but also infused the auditorium with the great man’s vision, mission that are still strongly persistent in our society.
