As winter sets in, Irani Mitra comes up with her Winter collection

Bright as well as subtle hues – a melange of tradition and fashion. The story behind designer Irani Mitra’s winter collection for Fall 2019 awaits to unfold.

The designer has chosen models from all walks of life and woven a story with her mind blowing designs for the love of nets, patchwork and velvet.

The basic idea behind the collection is that winter wear can be cosy and fashionable parallely. The exquisite craftsmanship with which Irani Mitra has constructed the different forms of clothing like lehenga, shawl, poncho and hooded kurtis will surely leave her fans crave to own one.

As the designer says, “The collection is truly a celebration on the auspicious occasion of Raas Purnima. The clothing line has been targeted towards the modern woman who look for warmth in the winters as well as style. You can simply wear the clothes from the winter line in mild chilly weather.”

It is the breathability of the clothes that differentiates the line from all others. The clothing is made with breathable, fine fabrics like net along with heavy fabrics like velvet. One can see a lot of patchwork with tightly woven fabrics with transparent material.

You can carry these in the winter months without being shrouded in old school cardigans, tightly woven shawls or heavy Benarasi.

Sonali Chakraborty, model for the shoot and a painter by profession is really happy to wear the beautiful lehenga. She says, “The lehenga she is wearing can be worn in the daytime as well as the evening. The material is so breathable; it is really a new concept.”

Iti Dutta says, “The cotton cold-shoulders, sleeveless kurta with a hood attached can save you from the sudden chill. The kurta has Indian motifs and the extremely lucky OM symbol. The maroon shawl made with net-like fabric along with velvet patches makes it stand out in the crowd.”

Dr Madhumita Sengupta says, “The collection is extremely comfortable. The jacket serves the fashion yet comfortable look. The shawl looks gaudy and heavily embellished, but breathable at the same time.”

Papri Bhowmik, an event manager and Kolkata Mrs Saffrons 2017 is looking especially happy. The shawl she has been chosen to showcase matches with her attire. The white shawl has lent an elegant look apart from keeping her warm amidst the chill.

Mrs Parul Sehgal Gulati, Irani Mitra’s model for the day is the State Director of a pageant apart from a host of other titles. The subtle lime green patchwork shawl can match any outfit. The nude outfit worn by Parul is taken to an enviable level with the shawl as accompaniment.

The beautiful Debasree, working with British Council rocks the black embellished shawl with her outfit. Her outfit can be worn for any evening party or wedding this season, says Irani Mitra.
Premlata Jain, looks bubbly even at 60 plus years. She would love to wear the shawl for a wedding function. She is in love with Irani Mitra’s collection.

The beautiful Ahana our kid star of the evening is wearing a poncho in maroon with a doll as accessory, is all praises for the collection.

The traditional, yet fashionable look of the winter wear collection will surely make heads turn. The breathability, which is an issue with heavy, woollens and other embellished attire is the differentiating factor in Irani Mitra’s collection. You can choose to wear the collection in the day time or for an evening party or function, without being heavily weighed down.
