‘Devi-shakti’ is twisting its tale with the Trans-woman showstopper

 

Woman Times News Desk, Kolkata – The fashion world has since, ancient time, witnessed many transformations and thanks to the fashion designers who bring out wonderful concepts to pass on social messages. Of them is this lady whose designs are going to make a distinct symbol of love, harmony and equality. With the announcement of the ‘Goddess Durga’, the Mitramind has come up with the concept of  devi bandana where the ‘trinayan’ is depicting the inner meaning of the fashion show, that is, giving full equality to men, women and the third gender.

Megh Sayantan Ghosh as the showstopper for the show

The dresses are designed specially by the city’s renowned fashion designer Irani Mitra. The show is arranged by Sourav Bhattacharjee, make-up by Avik who is also a transgender, and choreographed by Sandip Bhattacharyya. The show is compiled with 8 women, 2 men and the most talked transwoman, Megh Sayantan Ghosh who will also be the showstopper for the show. Megh opines,

“This is an initiative worth praising as the struggle that we have been doing for the acceptance in the mainstream gets stronger and meaningful with such events. I thank the organisers, Mitramind and Irani Mitra for the designs she have selected to portray different forms of Durga, and for Asur.”

While asking Irani Mitra on the same line, she reveals,

” I have been working for many causes and when I met Megh Sayantan I was overwhelmed with her talent and knowledge. I am happy that she  is the showstopper for my fashion show. With this there is a strong social message to the society standing for the equality of human beings irrespective of any gender.”

The fashion show will be held in the first week of October at the Sudakhini Apartment Hall. There are points proven with this initiative that equality can be supported to promote prosperity, peace and quality of life. To watch the response to the famous Irani Mitra’s designs, Sandip’s choreography and the team’s efforts one has to witness the event.
