Ganga Kumari the first transgender cop of Rajasthan Police Force

India is seen progressing on many issues of which LGBTQ is one. The society stands divided on this one supporting the community and the other which looks them down. But Ganga Kumari’s appointment as police personnel in Rajasthan Police Force adds to the nation’s pride in widening the horizon of acceptance.

Ganga Kumari, the 24-year-old, is the third transgender police cop in India who won the battle after 2 years of struggle. The conflict arose just after Ganga cleared the police examination and the medical rounds were on where her hermaphrodite ‘self’ was discovered. Lack of proper instructions and guidelines restricted the on-time appointment of Ganga Kumari, a resident of Raniwara in Jalore district of Rajasthan, whose determination in fighting the case won her the justice. The happiest part of the judgment of the Rajasthan court is that the appointment will be given from 2015 and she can avail of all the facilities of her job as per seniority.
