‘Godhulibela’r Dinguli’, a book on the Bengal literary renaissance, launched at the Press Club

2nd February, Kolkata – In the midst of the increasing digital readers, the city witnessed the book launch of ‘Godhulibela’r Dinguli’ authored by Arindam Acharya at the Press Club this Saturday evening. The launch was followed by a discussion on ‘Digital Dhakkaye Besaamal Boibazaar (The effects of the digitalization on the publishing industry) which covered different areas of both the digital world and the traditional publishing industry.

Born in 1987, Arindam has portrayed a tapestry of the Bengal Renaissance and the current scenario through the different characters weaved in the novel. The main character of ‘Sudhindranath’ is cold and insensitive towards anything that comes to his foray. He is oblivious to any social responsibility but his tryst with relationships and the then social and cultural revolution is beautifully presented. The conversations presented in the story give a transparent view of the time when the novel is set at. The blend of history and imagination calls for book lovers to read it.

The discussion had many distinguished poets, writers, and journalists who discussed the pros and cons of the digital media and it can be deduced that digital media is complementary to the publishing world and can never be a supplementary option.
