Green Tara Social Initiative have celebrated 70 years of Indo-Russian cultural Friendship

8th June 2018, Kolkata: Green Tara Social Initiative celebrated 70 glorious years of Indo-Russian cultural friendship with an eclectic program at Café Milee Droog (Gorky Sadan, Kolkata). The evening brought to the fore the cultural connect, celebration of gratitude and friendship between India and Russia. The focus of the evening was on Anna Akhmatova, the woman, the poet, the mother, whose life during the turbulent years of Russian regime saw her produce tremendous poetry of pathos.

The evening started with a poetry film based on an imaginary conversation between the three legends – Leo Tolstoy, Alexander Pushkin and Anna Akhmatova, scripted by Santasree Chaudhuri, the founder trustee of Green Tara Social Initiative. The program was followed by a poetry recitation, a Rabindra Sangeet sung by Nandini Bhattacharya. An article by Dr. Vinayak Sen on Anna Akhmatova was read. There were also poetry readings by Sufia Khatoon, Nikita Parik and other members of Rhythm Divine Poets, the poetry group of Kolkata and a Kalinka dance performance by dancers from Bengal. The program was blessed by the presence of many eminent personalities who have participated in the evening with their exceptional talents of Poetry recitation and Storytelling. There was an art installation on the theme of India-Russian culture by Sufia Khatoon, artist and founder of Art-a-Thon.

It has put Kolkata as a significant meeting place in the long and ever burgeoning friendship between the two nations – From Volga to Ganga, a literary amalgamation.
