IPS officer composes poetry amidst the Covid19 crisis

IPS officer and poetry? Amazed? Yes, you read this right.

“For me, the nation and duty come first. I know my family misses me during this crisis but nothing can be done.” says the IPS officer.

IPS or Indian Police have been a strong pillar throughout the COVID19 crisis nationally. A police officer maintains the law and administration but when a national austerity like coronavirus comes it is well proven that they can play multiple roles. Like a mother, they can feed the poor ones. On the other hand, they can act as a guardian. They strictly forbid ones who do not adhere to rules. Like an entertainer, they also go to the extent of singing songs to make people aware and entertain simultaneously.

“This is a universal phenomenon that a woman ties a house or family. Generally, we do not get the time to be at the house or look through the minute things in our home. This is the time when the male counterparts can relate deeply to his house” says Kalyan Mukhopadhyay, DIG Jalpaiguri Range.

The poetry speaks of the pain and fear of a wife during the lockdown. She fears that her husband, who is not habituated for long stays at home, will go out. Knowing the fact that going out of the home may endanger her husband’s life she urges her husband softly not to go out. Moreover, she tries to use all means so that he does not go out.

Sumita Chatterjee, a voice-over artist, recites the poem. She says, [quotes quotes_style=”bpull” quotes_pos=”center”]”In the busy life, I think relationships are getting some time. Be it, men or women, people are very busy with themselves and their cell phones. I liked the lines written by him where a woman looks forward to her man in such dreary days.”[/quotes]

The hand that arrests is now writing poetry!

On asking “I am not even thinking to go home. My family is miles away from me. My fellow officers are working in the borders of Bangladesh, Bhutan, Darjeeling and such places. We as a community are working every day towards making people aware. Telling them that even if it is painful you have to be at home.”

Further, the officer urges the common people to stay home as that will help them to carry out their duties. He advises people not to panic in these days but at the same time do not take the virus lightly. Staying at home is the only option to stay safe.
