Mallhar, a dance organisation, successfully completes its 7 years journey with Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen

Woman Times Desk, 4th August 2019, Kolkata – The city of Salt Lake witnessed a different enthusiasm from its daily life with the comeback of Gupi Gayen and Bagha Bayen. The famous series of Satyajit Ray that has completed 50 years. Mallhar, a dance organisation, founded by Sreetama Barik successfully completed its 7 years of teaching dance that started with a charity. The event was held at B.D. Auditorium at Salt Lake Sector 1 in presence of distinguished guests like Debasish Sen, Chairman of HIDCO, Devlina Kumar, Tollywood actor, Partha Karmakar, owner of Poritosh Jewellers and many others. The audience was surprised with the dance performance of Devlina Kumar on her track ‘Rongoboti’ from the film ‘Gotro’.

The program was differently presented with Satyajit Ray’s Gupi Gayen and Bagha Bayen in dance drama format. The flavour of Ray was intact with the young dancers performing really good in different characters. The event had many other attractions like Navras, traditional dance forms and ‘Kurnish Award’.

The award was presented to 4 people from different walks of life who have been an inspiration to society. The 4 awardees were Prabir Sarkar, a paralympic champion; Sayani Palit, a Bollywood singer who may not see the world through her eyes but can otherwise feel the world with her eyes; Bhakti Pada Das, a ration shop owner who helps the real needy people by providing them daily ration items in half price; and Mimi Das. a social activist, who has been since 10 years mother to 300 children taking care of their every need.

The program ended on a note to begin for a better tomorrow in the dance industry and the society as well.
