The Nude Flute staged on Sujata Bhawan, Kolkata

The ‘Khoj Theatre’ had organised a play ‘The Nude Flute’, directed by Kaustav Bhattacharya, on the issue of the LGBTQ of our society. The play is written by Susovan Kanjilal and the main character is played by Megh Sayantan Ghosh.

The play revolved around Mrinal who encounters a trespasser in his house. The stranger weirdly overpowers his mind and makes him lament about his solitary life which he lived indifferently in his own terms. The very day eventually turns out to be a special day of Mrinal, alias Mira’s life. “The Nude Flute” deals with LGBTQ and other social issues, interpreting theism and mythology from a newer perspective.

The director Kaustav Bhattacharya says, “This play is not just about the LGBTQ community but for all who has a struggle in their life but hesitates to fight for the right cause. The play sends a message that one will carry after watching the play.” Adding to it the lead character, Megh says to Woman Times, “I could connect to the plot being a transwoman and I thoroughly enjoyed the play. The story is beautifully woven with mythology where Lord Krishna comes and connects the whole story.”
