The three-day long Jangal Mahal Festival starts from today

 

23rd November 2018, Kolkata – As the winter grips the city of joy the Jangal Mahal Udyog has geared up for a three-day-long program with the 5th year celebration of ‘Jangal Mahal Utsav’ at Mohor Kunja from today. The program was inaugurated by Shri Chandra Nath Sinha, the Minister-in-charge of the Fisheries Department and Shri Debashish Kumar, MIC by lightening the lamp.

The program started with a rally of 20 organisations from Mohor Kunja to the Cathedral and back followed by felicitation of different organisations associated with the event. Different workshops imparting the knowledge of varied forms of song and dance forms like – Chhau, Tusu, Bhado, Jhumur, Leto, Chappal-Chappal, Sharpa et al. The workshop conducted during the festival is to spread the cultural forms of the Jangal Mahal.

This three-day festival has stalls of varied handicrafts, sweets, vegetables and displayed items. An eye camp is also set up for the visitors. This festival will be a way to celebrate the culture and art of West Bengal.
