27th December 2018, Kolkata – Humanity is always not in the syllabus of every people but to be a human one does not need a gender or sex, all that person needs is to kind and compassionate. With this message, a short film Uthaan, directed by Souvik Dey is all about humanity plotted with a story. A minor girl raped on the streets is rescued by a transgender, character played by Megh Sayantan Ghosh, and later she takes care of the child as her mother. Ranjta Sinha, a Transgender activist, also has played a role in the film. Various other transgenders had been cast for the film. The team is full of confidence that this movie shall bring a positive in the society in the way people look at humanity and transgender.
The film promises to grip the audience till the end. And for the star cast, all the characters are real in nature. The film has received many awards of which two awards are won by Megh Sayantan Ghosh for best actress.
