With the support of the Department of Culture, Government of West Bengal, and organised by the Bengal Youth Film Festival Committee, the West Bengal Youth Film Festival was held from August 28 to 30. Young and Generation Z filmmakers from different parts of Bengal, ranging from remote regions to urban centres, participated in the festival with their new ideas and creative works. The festival featured a diverse selection of short films and documentaries.
One of the prominent patrons of the festival was Agnimitra Paul. Several distinguished personalities from the cultural fraternity, including noted actor Rudranil Ghosh, graced the festival on different days. A number of noteworthy documentaries from India and abroad were also screened during the festival.
The jury board comprised two eminent stars of Bengali cinema, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta. On the closing day, the winners of the first, second and third positions were presented with their awards and certificates by Prosenjit Chatterjee. In addition, 25 other young filmmakers whose films were selected for the festival were felicitated with certificates of recognition and mementoes.
Among the selected films was ‘Future of Gen Z’, directed by Mrinmoy Sarkar. Centred around an intergenerational dialogue between Millennials and Generation Z, the film explores the ideals and spirit of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, presenting them as a source of inspiration and guidance for the generations that will shape the future.

For this distinctive film, director Mrinmoy Sarkar was felicitated at the film festival. He was accompanied by the entire team of Future of Gen Z.
For a young filmmaker to present his debut work at such a prestigious film festival and receive recognition for it is undoubtedly a memorable and deeply proud moment in Mrinmoy Sarkar’s journey as a director.
