When colours speak a different language, humanity emerges as a strong entity

17th March 2019, Kolkata – The colours have started showing up in the city with the pre-celebration of Holi by different organisations and institutions. Festivals have turned a great way of gathering together and flaunting unity. Troyee foundation that believes in humanity has taken the initiative to celebrate this festival of colours by involving both the transgender community and the mainstream society.

“I do not believe in this community or word – transgender. I believe in humanity and this should be the only identity of an individual. There shall not be any demarcation of communities and that is how we all can be together in a true sense.” says, Shree Ghatak, Founder of Troyee Foundation, a foundation for the development of the transgenders.

The event was initiated by Shree Ghatak with the idea of celebrating festivals together without any division of humanity with the help of Smt. Mimi Das, a social worker and President of NHRO Women Cell (Bengal) and Keya Das, Councillor of South Dum Dum Municipality.

Keya Das opines, “When Shree Ghatak approached me I thought of supporting the endeavour as festivals are for one and all. The society must learn from these initiatives to come forward unitedly and respect all human beings in the same way.”

The program started with a beautiful song passing the message of equality and acceptability. This is the first of its kind initiative in the city where the festival of colours saw such an amalgamation of people with a definite cause.

Mimi Das, the President of NHRO Women Cell (Bengal) says, “I have always supported humanity. There is no male or female when humanity calls. People must stand by humanity irrespective of caste, race or community. Being the President of the NHRO I am glad to be a part of the initiative. I wish everyone Happy and Safe Holi.”
