Dhuska: an easy and tasty Jharkhand dish

Dhuska the word may seem weird but it is an amazing dish from the kitchen of the state, Jharkhand.  I have been travelling quite a lot after my marriage and cooking has always been my passion. With a child of 4 years trying tasty recipe is a way to fill up her tummy. Dhuska is quite rich in vitamins and minerals. Include this in your diet at times to get enough vitamins and minerals necessary for a healthy body.

Ingredients for Dhuska:

Chana Dal (Chickpeas) – 1/2 cup

Urad Dal (Indian lentil) – 1/2 cup

Rice – 1 cup

Whole Jeera (Cumin) – 2 tbsp

Green Chilli – 2 pcs

Ginger about 1 inch

Hing (Asafoetida)

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Oil to fry

Process:

Take equal quantity of urad dal and chana dal. Take double the rice soak everything together for 3 to 4 hours or overnight. Strain the excess water and put in a mixer adding 2 tbsp of jeera, green chillies, ginger, a pinch of hing, salt to taste and turmeric powder. The batter should not be too flowy but with good consistency. It should be thick enough (pouring consistency). Take oil in a frying pan and heat it well. Meanwhile, beat the batter well to make it light.  Pour some batter in the oil and fry till they turn golden brown. It is ready to serve. You may serve with sauce or any chutney.

It is a great snack for guests as well. Easy and less time-consuming recipe. Both adults and kids will love this snack.
