Butter Chicken, Google’s most popular dish

Butter Chicken is India’s most popular dish and most searched recipe on Google. This is served with rice, roti, paratha or naan. Poeple of all age groups love this is a recipe that was made by mistake. Also known as Murg Makhani, in 1947 the founders of Moti Mahal Restaurant cooked the leftover chicken in a tomato gravy that was rich in butter and cream. It was an instant hit both in India and oversees. The recipe was also published in manyEnglish newspapers then.

Ingredients of Butter Chicken tikka:

Boneless Chicken: 500 gm
Ginger & Garlic Paste: 4 tsp
Hung curd: 4 tbsp
Salt as per taste
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Garam masala powder: 1/2 tsp
lime juice: 1 tbsp
Black Pepper powder: 1/4 tsp

Process:

Take the boneless chicken and marinate it with ginger-garlic paste, hung curd, salt, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, lime juice, and black pepper powder. Now, take a kebab stick or skewer and add put a few pieces of chicken to it. Fry this and keep aside.

For the Gravy of Butter Chicken:

Tomato: 4 pcs

Garlic: 6 cloves

Garam masala: 1 tsp

Kasuri Methi: 1 tsp

Fresh Cream as required for garnishing and adding to the recipe

Red Chilli powder: 1 tsp

Sugar as per required

Onion: 1/2 of a big pc

Cashew or Kaju: 7 to 8 pcs (boil the Kaju badam and make the paste. Rinse if excess water exists)

Refine Oil & Butter

Process:

  • Take a pan and add 2 tsp refined oil and 4 medium sized butter cubes, add garam masala and kaju paste.
  • Now, add salt, sugar, red chilli powder and cook it for sometime.
  • Add water and again cook for sometime.
  • Now, add the chicken tikkas to the gravy, followed by kasuri methi, fresh cream.
  • Serve hot butter chicken with paratha, roti or naan.
  • You can garnish the dish with some fresh cream on it.
